The Beer Chicks

We Beer Chicks both have deep Italian roots, and there's almost nothing more that we look forward to in the springtime than Cosciotto di Agnello, yummy Leg of Lamb!  Usually roasted, we like adding some love to this dish by braising and pairing the leg of lamb in Italian beer, making what we like to call Cosciotto di Agnello Alla Birra!

Bock beers, we've all heard of them.  And like many things in the craft beer world, maybe just took for granted that we knew what it meant.   Beeradvocate.com says that the origins of bock beer are arguable. The most popular theory is that the name comes from a pagan influence that the beer was only to be brewed during the sign of the Capricorn goat and that "bock" means goat in German.  Or maybe it means that drinking them makes you feel like you got kicked in the head by a goat!

Cider. That's right, cider. We'll say it again ... Cider used to be the bane of our existence. With so many people saying to us over the years, "I'm not a beer drinker, I'll just have a cider," its no wonder that we've become a little vexed and embittered towards this apple juice wonderland.  But our associative recollections are not all cider's fault.

With beautiful Spring here and Summer peeking around the corner, we've been drinking tons of delicious Maui CoCoNut Porter!  Dark and toasty and nice and rich without being cloying, this beer is made with toasted coconut, which gives this beer a bright balance and beautiful aromatics, followed by chocolate and coffee notes.
